For two decades, I've photographed the people, places, and traditions that have made Fire Island Pines one of the world's most iconic LGBTQ+ communities. What began as a personal passion has grown into an extensive visual archive documenting the history, culture, and evolution of the Pines through thousands of photographs.
From sun-drenched beaches and legendary pool parties to quiet boardwalks at sunrise, Pride celebrations, drag performances, artists, activists, and everyday moments of friendship and love, my camera has witnessed generations of people who have helped shape the unique spirit of Fire Island.
This collection is more than a series of photographs—it's a visual history of a community that has long been a place of freedom, creativity, resilience, and belonging for LGBTQ+ people from around the world. Many of the places, traditions, and faces captured here have changed over the years, making these images an important record of Fire Island's living history.
