Shot on Fire Island in 2014, shortly after a fire had passed through the area, koitz’s The Meat Rack Series found beauty in the aftermath. The charred trees stood like dark silhouettes, transforming the landscape into an eerie, almost enchanted forest. Using natural light and strobe, koitz placed his subject within this strange new world, where fire, shadow, and desire seemed to coexist.
