Cherry Grove Archives Collection
The Cherry Grove Archives Collection presents an in-depth feature on koitz, celebrating more than two decades of documenting the LGBTQ+ communities of Cherry Grove and Fire Island Pines. Combining photographs, recorded interviews, and historical context, the exhibition explores the stories behind many of his most iconic images—from the legendary Invasion of the Pines and the Underwear Party to the Cherry Grove Fire Department and the everyday moments that define life on Fire Island. The presentation also highlights koitz's photography book Gay Fire Island, his award-winning documentary In the Meat Rack, and his enduring contribution to preserving the cultural history of one of the world's most significant queer communities.
